Taking the time to attend a open house!

When it comes to purchasing a new home there are many tools available today to help you find the perfect one.  Technology will be your best asset when it comes to searching for your perfect home.  They are many real estate websites and social media sites that can help you find your new home.  There's is also the overlooked tool that has been around for many years that buyers can tend to overlook.  That's the traditional "Open House."  With websites allowing you to gather so much information about properties without ever leaving the comforts of your home why would one want to go to an open house?  There are two good reasons to attend the open house.  First and foremost, you can get the actual feeling inside yourself if this will be the right home.  You are able to visualize yourself and belongings in the home.  Pictures are always going to be just pictures.  I don't know how many times I've heard my clients say, "Wow, this looks way different than the pictures I saw online."  That comment can be good or bad.  Some are glad they decide to look at the home and some are disappointed.  Keep in mind that when it comes to an open house you can view a variety of homes whether you think they might or might not be in your price range.  This will also help you decide what houses are worth and how much you want to spend.  Don't be afraid to view homes above your price limit or below your price limit.  Second thing I like about an open house is that it gives a buyer a chance to interview real estate agents.  Yes, that's what I said, "Interview!"  Now I don't mean that you are going to sit down right there and ask a bunch of questions on why they should be hired.  Instead, you can see how the agent reacts to your general questions about the home.  How the agents personality is and if it's a fit for you.  It's a good way to see if the agent follows up with you.  Overall you can gage the agent’s knowledge and professionalism and to see if the agent will have your best interest in mind at all times.  With that said I recommend setting some time aside and start previewing homes during an open house.  You'll turn yourself into a knowledgeable buyer and will be able to make the right decision when the time comes to purchase your home.  I will be having there open houses this weekend.  On Saturday, January 28th, I will have 106 Netherlands Ave E in Hollandale, MN open from 10am to 11am and 205 West St in Hayward, MN from 11:30am to 12:30pm.  On Sunday, January 29th, I will be having 510 1st Ave SW in Glenville, MN open from 12:30pm to 2pm.  The link attached will take you to some information about those homes.
